Wednesday

On Wed the sec 4s had a really interesting activity - we had the Careerfest organised by the school, with JCs, Polys and unis setting up booths around the primary school hall.

After Mr Leong had his opening address and presenting gifts to the professionals and the institutions, we were left to go free-and-easy. I had to catch the career talk at 3.30 (I signed up for both engineering and teaching talks) so yea, I decided to attend the engineering talk because the speaker was external. I waited there for awhile and De Sheng came in to tell us he'd be either really late or is cancelling on us, so I ran over to the classroom where Mr. Fernendaz was just starting his talk on teaching. He asked me why I was considering the profession, I replied because it looked like one which was really fulfilling :)

Miss Tan came in as well and sort of, explained to us why Mr. Fernendaz was picked for the job of telling us the life of a teacher - it was because he was one of much passion in it and one with a BIG heart :D He shared with us the requirements, the unwritten ones as well such has having paitence and passion towards teaching all sorts of students, and about being a civil servant. I realised that teaching as a career branches out to many different routes of advancement, progressing from the classroom teacher. So yea, education could be one of my options to consider in the future, like as Mrs. Anna Tan suggested I should try out relief teaching first. The talk was great because Mr. Fernendaz was doing it and I learnt more about being a civil servant :D

We walked back together towards the hall to view the booths and Mr Fernendaz and I just chatted more about scholarships. Back in the hall I visited NUS' booth and could not understand much of what they told me, just the sound advice to choose my JC subjects wisely so as to be able to open the path to as many courses as possible in uni. VJC sounded kinda fun and interesting, can see why so many cat high guys end up going there. CJC talked more about fulfiling NYAA gold. RJC was kinda cold, the ex-cat high guy couldn't even speak, the teacher had to swoop in. Hmm. A better insight in the JCs, though.

Thursday

The only few things eventful about this long, draggy day was PE and Chem O level SPA.

We finished watching the movie of the novel, 'To Kill a Mocking Bird', which Mrs Yap so vehemently forbade us to watch before we finished studying the novel, and she was right about it: the movie did dilute much of the novel and it's content, it only captured the key events and dramatised on them, and people kept making fun of the actor for Tom and Mayella. It was really alot more dramatic then I pictured it to be when I read the book. Then after the attack on the children came the scene where we finally saw:

BOO RADLEY. GASP.

Okay we seriously didn't expect him to look like that. He seems too muscular and healthy looking to be the Boo in the book, Ivan was like saying there's a problem with the casting, showing the best looking character only for last :O

During PE we played hockey, finally getting into the game :D It's fun and very, well, in two games there were like 5 accidents, so yea. Duo Geng hit the joint above my ankle while I was on offensive :X hurt like nuts, but I carried on playing (then DG got hit in the nose by the ball :X He's okay now.) and only felt the pain during Amath later. Mrs Tan had someone go get a triangular bandage for me I made a cast out of it :D I'm still on the makeshift cast, though finally the vein which was swelling is subsiding. This is why I love first aid :D

Chem SPA was kinda uneventful, just that it hurt to go and get the reactants. I think at most I'd minus a mark or two for getting too low an enthalpy change.

And I have my own fair share of encounters with creepy, middle aged men who stand up when a bunch of cat high boys board the bus, squeeze inbetween us in the crowd and keep knocking into us, not getting off the bus anytime soon. Usually when someone stands up it's to give the seat to someone or to exit the bus, but notorious Mr. Bishan G on bus 156 did it to squeeze into the crowd. I was really pissed with him and exited asap.

Friday

After school I was talking with Wei Kit, Wei Xuan and Samuel about how to fill up our testimonial forms. I seriously got nothing to fill in under 'Aesthetics' :O

After that I went to study till 5, and just as I sat down Ernest joined me :D We were basically just talking and making notes. Two NCC air part As who had too much time on their hands with no training dropped by and talked to us, and decided to do PT for the fun of it. So enthu :O

For some reason Leong Shuan came by and talked to Ernest and myself. Apparently he was waiting for his peer mentor. He, erm, introduced me his form of metal music...which was rather...extreme. Even females singing d-e-a-t-h metal sound tortured with their low voices, and the drum beats at such fast frequencies. Just listening to the fast drums scare me D: and the song titles are all...gory, with the singers screaming practically every line. Ernest and I were freaked D: I think I like my form of metal alot, alot, alot better: symphonic metal and goth metal incorporate keyboard very often with slower drums, and all the lyrics are very clearly sung. And they are slow in tempo. Like Evanescence and Within Temptation :D Never will I go near anything heavy metal-ish ever again.

And I know I've heard that LS can do it, but I didn't believe it entirely until I heard him recite the whole, frigging periodic table infront of me according to mass, from Helium to Actinium, then moving on to the lower group from Cerium to Lawrencium. In perfect order :O I was like, dumb-founded. He couldn't say what memory technique he used, he said he 'just remembered for kicks'. Oh god. Then we memorised like, in groups as well, like reciting the halogens in order of reactivity. Now I'm freaked yet amazed o.o

When it was 5 I went down to the parade square to watch the 30th CHS NPCC batch graduate with Ernest and Chek Wei:

Sebastian was super smooth with the drill cane, it seemed so light yet he could whip it into 90 degrees under his shoulder in one movement :D

Mr Daniel Yong inspecting the GOH

Sebastian returning the drill cane, symboling their stepping down as the NCOs of 2008-2009.

Then came the best part of the short POP:

That was the freestyle drill performance they exited the parade with. After I heard the MC cueing the performance I quickly hobbled to join Damien and Shi Min on the second floor to film. It was amazing from my angle. They basically thanked the Sirs and Madam, formed a circle to do a CHS NPCC cheer, formed the number '30' as they slow marched out of the parade and threw their berets :D

I know that many of the 30th batch didn't choose NPCC as their CCA of choice back when we were sec 1, but look at them now. Even though not everybody was highly interested in NPCC, through their four years together they have come out to be the most bonded part amongst all the uniform groups, proudly being the 30th batch. It's all apparent in the video, for a part to rehearse together to pull off this freestyle drill performance for their grand exit, it really is amazing :D

I'm glad I'm friends with many of them and was able to watch them make their grand exit :)
