You will never miss civilian life until you're taken away from it.
On Saturday morning, I awoke and left for the Red Cross House. I may have been tired out by camp the past few days, but walking around in my own clothes, seeing people everywhere in different clothes, no regimentation, no officers shouting orders, all milling about getting along with life, it was a really, really good feeling. I'd look forward to every book-out when I enter the Army, to get this surge of relief once more :) If Jeff were to be with me, he'd be like: "OMG, ARE THOSE GIRLS?" XD
Nevertheless, I made my way to the Red Cross House for my Standard First Aid Course, I was expecting to go alone, to know no one and do the course by myself, but I had a pleasant surprise: at the 3rd floor was Yong Kang, Jackson, Sebastian, He Yuan, Rui Jie and Joey :D omg, NPCC friends! Talk about small world o.o They signed on under NPCC, and paid only about $60 - by Edusave! Bah.
We went for the course classroom, our instructor's name was Royal O.o besides us, there were another group of teenagers (those buggers) and a couple of young adults. Instructor Royal was very knowledgeable, but his accent...being a Hong Kong-er, it was very hard to follow =X It's all about give-and-take ba.
We had theory in the morning, it was rather easy for me to follow as I read ahead (thank you Duo Geng and Lisa!) and I kept elbow-ing Yong Kang to keep his eyes open. How can you sleep - first aid is important!
After lessons (those teens from Compassvile were a hella buggersome throughout) we went to Plazza Singapura. I REFUSE TO EAT CHICKEN then, so we went to Long John Silver. The old man working there was really enthu about his job, wearing a bandanna and all - it's really nice to see that he spends his golden years doing something he enjoys. The guys wanted to go to the arcade for a shootout, so I watched.
After lunch was practical, learning to tie the broad arm sling, elevated arm sling, ring pad, hand bandage, and the procedures for unconscious casualties (choking and CPR). I was the first teen to do so after watching two adults, was kinda nervous XD I stumbled abit (rise, chest, RISE.) but I did it in the end rather well :) Then it was home-bound, still loving civilian life.
On Sunday, Day II, I left home blurry-eyed (was studying First Aid the night before) and ran into Yong Kang at Bishan MRT. Then we left for Red Cross House after meeting up with the other NPCC guys. First thing in the morning we tied each other arms up with bandages, Royal said my bandage was good :D
Then came more theory, and how to perform the Heimlich maneuver (I'm so blur, I thought the point of contact was the tip of the sternum like CPR, I was hitting the wrong place!) and then lunch break - we left for Plazza Singapura and went to...KFC...
I imagined my Zinger was fish which was molded to look like chicken. After all, fish is molded into so many things - fish balls, fish sticks, fish rolls, etc. Bah. I don't wanna think about chicken.
After lunch we went to the arcade again, Yong Kang talked me into playing the shootout game Time Crisis 3 with him. it was rather fun, till I died prematurely. Joy. There goes $1 I lost shooting virtual fellas.
After lunch we came back and learned how to tie bandages for jaw injuries and skull injuries. Seriously, those other teens piss me off. They look around my age or younger, yet they are noisy, disruptive, uninterested, during hands-on one asshole sat at his desk and listened to his MP3. They better not be Red Crossers or NCC cadets. At the rate some of them are going, pushing one another forward to do CPR when they themselves don't know how to after watching so many people do, I won't be surprised if some of them fail. I hate people like them who don't take first aid seriously.
The funniest conversation of the day?
Royal: "And that's how hand wrap is done better. Ugly?"
*everyone shakes their head*
Royal: "Huh? How come you no ugly?"
*everyone goes o.o"
Royal: "Do you ugly this is better?"
Everyone: "OH HE MEANT 'AGREE'."
LOL. His accent is tough to catch, but he's a real good teacher. After lessons, us Cat high guys hung back to practice on the mannequins and recovery position again. We took a group pic!

From Left: Joey, He Yuan, Mr. Big Chest, Yong Kang, Jackson, Mr. Forever-Unconscious, Sebastian, Rui Jie & Myself.
I'm slightly nervous (understatement) about my test on the 14th. I must, must, pass the test and become a first-aider!
And I'm still desperate for CIP.
Time to kidnap my brother and wrap him in multiple bandages over and over.
COME HOME SOON LI. =(
