Oh god tired. tired tired tired. I just got back from Annual Part B Leadership Camp 2008 for the sec 2s.
Overall, I think the camp went quite well, just a couple of hiccups. It wasn't too bad. My group, self-named Air Rangers (don't ask, I have no idea why). Honestly, I wanted to have them named Alpha (heeeeeeeeeeee.) My 2IC was Jared. The sec 2s in my group were Toh Hong, Xiang Kai, Javier, Nicholas and Yew Long.
Day 1 - Morning. REAL BORING. Seriously, nothing to do. Lessons were conducted, and it was basically everything we've learned before. I decided to try and stay awake throughout the morning and listen through. Really, it's nothing much o.o
Then came lunch =D Right after that was the Planning and Organisation of Camp lesson. Huiyang swooped in to conduct the lesson, and I assisted =D An assignment was given then for them to plan out. What followed was the IFC lessons. Again, nothing much to elaborate about, I followed Air Rangers around, the only thing worth mentioning was that I jabbed Bryan in the back with a rifle simply cause he put his hand in his pocket during interrogation by a sentry (myself) XD Remember how IFC mutuals are taught, Sec 2s!
After dinner, the sec 2s had their discussion and planning for their project and cadet's night. I carried on with my One-to-one interviews with the cadets, nothing concerning post, just to find out more about them as individuals. I got disrupted though, by 3 events that night. Three. I don't wanna type any out, but they were resolved one by one, and I'm glad to put them behind me. I believe they can all change for the better =)
I had a late night on Day 1. Oh~ THANKS Garry. Mei mei, stay strong please. Coping with death may not be the easiest of tasks, but the people around you will cushion your blow as your ah gong now resides in a better place =)
Day 2, I'm not sure where Jared disappeared to o.o I taught my group Drill mutuals and had their practice, oh man I need my breakfast =X Following that was Sir Qin Xue's lessons about BUC, which didn't need us to be present. I spent that timeslot talking to Sir Qin Zheng instead (oh yes, in case you're wondering, they are brothers, both from CHS NCC air. Sir Qin Xue's older, I think he was the pioneer batch. Sir Qin Zheng was the USM of CHS NCC air 2004, right before Xian Hui. I just realised my name's on the CHS NCC website already o.o ) Then in the next period I explained the duties of a USM to the sec 2s.
Lunch (thank GOODNESS NO HORRID PURPLE VEGGIES) followed, then was the Project presentations on their Camp Organisation. I suddenly got a call from Mr Goh: 3 slots were avaliable to NCOs for Laser Quest.
"OH YEA. I'M SO IN."
I found 2 other NCOs, Bryan and Darren. One more slot became avaliable, and Rong Xuan joined in. I was SOO HYPED during the breifing for the game. I joined Team Delta and chose my rifle: The MX-22 named EAGLE. It was the well-balanced, versatile, jack-of-all-trades kind: performs reasonably well at close range and with a good range of about 200m, effective to a certain extend for sniping as well and rather lightweight. MY kind of gun ^^
The first round was a Death-match. I was up against Bryan's team. Mission: Kill as many as possible. 7 shots to "die" and you have to revive at your stationed medic. I was attached to Vincent as we crept around the third floor sniping down to the second floor. Alot of sprinting and doing 'rush movement' from IFC. Man I love EAGLE. At one point of time I was sprinting to my medic to revive, I spotted Bryan hiding right beside the medic waiting to attack me. I got revived and did a sprint for safety XD returning fire as Bryan chased me down chomping 3/7 of my lifes =X
Result: Charlie beat Delta by 4 deaths.
Rarrrgh. We waited for round 2 against Alpha. This time, it was more complicated. Every team would have a VIP. If the VIP is killed, it counts for 3 deaths. If the VIP is able to infiltrate the enemy's base and tap their medic, it counts for 5 redemption points for their team (5 revives are nullified). Our VIP was Abraham, and I joined Kian How in being the Distract-ers for the Escort team.
This round was better =D Kian How and I went as a team until Abra could score 1 tap on the medic scoring 5 redemption points before we died at different times, forcing us to split. Then I struck out alone to distract many of the opposition to one side of the corridor for Abra to strike again twice XD I only got found out later by Wei Sheng who chased me down 2 flights of stairs and killing me =X
Results: Delta lost to Alpha by raw score of 30 (deaths) - 28 (deaths). HOWEVER, we scored 15 redemption points and they scored 10, so final score is 15 - 18! Delta gets 3rd place :D
There were many lesson to learn from this game, I hope the sec 2s do remember them =)
After dinner followed CADET'S NIGHT. I love those, it's just really funny XD Ernest, still doing his video diary, was our MC. I really liked all the performances, Daniel's group was the funniest to me, super super cold jokes that can actually match up or beat Weikit XD I also saw something I shouldn't have seen @.@ *drowns face in tap*
Yes, you CAN scare your Sergeant Major with....such acts.
Somehow, Yong Hwee dragged out the Wei Xuan look-a-like: Benny Ang, to answer a plenty questions and talk about, basically, anything in general. And we all were cracking up for no apparent reason XD I myself don't logically understand why either!
Following that was a Sentry briefing by Bryan and a safety briefing by me. Bryan showed about 40 pictures of the route the sentries were to take, and the objective was for the sec 2s patrolling to take as many accurate pictures as depicted during their patrol around the secondary school and the (super creepy, scary, and dreadful) primary school compounds, while avoiding capture from the intruders (NCOs).
I subjected Clarence to singing duets with him while he went for a shower :D
My job was to flag off each shift of sentries. It wasn't much to do, after flagging them off Ernest and I did patrols around the secondary school compound for sentries. My favourite moment was in front of the primary school bookshop, Brandon sat infront of the piano, and he laid his fingers on the keys.
Everything seemed to stop for us NCOs. Ernest and I just stood watching, cameras recording, as Brandon played out what I think was a GUNDAM song, but it was kinda creepy in that atmosphere, the Evanescence mood, as it echoed throughout the school. Wow.
It's ironic how the NCOs got overpowered by like, the unexpected numbers of about SEVEN GUARDS. How on earth? There should only be 2 guards on duty! Everyone ended up helping everyone esle, and we got caught ._. I tried to leopard crawl away after being spotted, I ended up being chased down =X
I ended up falling asleep on my rifle by the stairs when Ernest and I took a break. Ernest forced me to go back to the bunk to rest.
A horrid headache formed on Day 3. Due to all of the NCOs drowsiness, we had to rush like crazy to leave the school on time and break camp =X Ragh.
Congrats to the Camp's Best Cadet: Tsang Yuk Tim =) Good job everyone, it was kinda hard for us to make a choice. Continue to work hard, all!
I really hope that the Sec 2s have gained much from this camp, learning from everything we taught, through scolding and through having fun. I really have to thank all the NCOs who came down, even those who came even though not required to help us out, we can all finally rest :D
Wait. No. O level's in a week. Dang. It's so close =X Time to really do my best in this one, and show my dad that I can score well ^^ I was never a fan of HSM, and never will be =X count me out.
I seemed to have lost contact with someone I speak with often. For some reason we've kinda stopped two-way conversations...I miss laughing whenever I read your messages..I really hope we could establish it once more =(
My table hides a secret that only I could understand. If it's out of place, so will I be.
