If the skies could be so beautiful this evening, why couldn't it be the same for them?
People may think my batch maybe the unluckiest one, but I really beg to differ. I don't have to list it out, look around. When life throws you lemons, you make lemonade. Hurdles comes your way, you jump over them. Trip and fall, the only way left possible is UP.
This evening I felt so, helpless. An old man fell down in the middle of a walkway. I happen to saw it and moved forward, but I could do nothing. He did not respond to any concerned questions by some men, one would even describe he was like a broken doll. Some men quickly called an ambulance and decided not to move him. I felt so helpless just watching the old man there. By the time the ambulance came, he was bleeding by the mouth. Then they took him away on a wheelchair, and he still was not responsive at all..
I decided to take a walk that evening, the red sunset wasn't common. I thought I felt better until I started to walk back, a hunched, old man walked up the same path I was taking. He rested a stick on his shoulder, some stuff inside bundled in cloth, and he was walking out of the residential area of terraces. He was walking ahead of me, towards my block. I trailed behind him until he made a turn into another block and dissapeared..I had the feeling that he was a vagabond..or a homeless. It's just..saddening, like being slapped with reality.
I really hope both of them will eventually have a better future ahead of them :(

You're my red sunset, and I'd keep chasing you till the end of the horizon, where you'd finally fade.Labels: What will you do in the face of reality?

I know that lots of practice with math will help you.
But it might backfire. Somehow. Like it might just...
Cause you to burst into shouting out some lyrics.
The past two days I've been staying back in school till late doing math, math and more math, with the guidance of Mrs Alice Long. Well, its all going to pay off, somehow, but I don't think anything can make up for what I made my classmates go through with Phil Collin's "You'd be in my heart" from Tarazan. Rihana's Unfaithful chorus is also a favourite when I get stuck at a question, be it the original or Liyana's vetted one XD
It will pay off. I will make sure that (my classmates and) I will not have gone through all that (Math WS and more ^^) for nothing :D
Before I did my math this afternoon, I had a meeting with Mr Jeffrey Goh, Sir Anthony and Sir Qin Xue. Just to let all Part B's be aware first:
The dates for the 4th annual Part B Leadership Camp is on the last week of the month: 25 - 27th of Oct. There most probably will be no more changes for this. If there are any Part B's who are unable to make it for this date, please tell me ASAP, as this is your ASSESSMENT for your post as a NCO.
I've checked with Mr Goh K.Y. regarding the Outdoor Adventure Leader (OAL) camp, the dates are still not finalised, but we've already submitted the names of the norminated NCC (air) guys to him already. I'd most probably be going for the camp as a senior if it clashes with nothing. As for CMC, I don't know if Johnervan as norminated yet...
Time to share a little email I just read:
"You may only be a person in this world, but to someone, you are the world...."
PORK CHOPS
In a zoo in California , a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.
The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve.
After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only 'orphans' that could be found quickly, were a litter of weanling pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger.
Would they become cubs or pork chops? Take a look...
How serene can this picture be?
This one's really sweet :) and no, the tiger ain't stalking the pig ._.
If two entirely different species of animals can live harmonious together, why could'nt the rest of the world? Why are people still fighting one another over the term they call "race"?
Ahh. The last friday, GO ALL OUT XD

Like the leaves of a tall tree, I'd never be able to reach out to you unless you decide to float free with the wind. Or I could climb up there and get you first, but will you flutter off if I do?

Ok, I met Mr Goh today, and he unloaded a whole lot of events and admin O.O One at a time...

2) Basic PDS Course 05/11 to 07/11 (2 part Bs: CPL Toh Hong and Yuk Tim)
3) Endau Rompin 05/11 to 07/11 (SSG Wei Kit + 4 other Part Bs to be confirmed)

8) Camp Pinnacle 01/12 to 05/12 (SSG Benedict -er. myself- and probably Weikit as well)
Phew. Important one is the SYFC one. If NCOs you guys qualify and are interested, tell Yu Cheng.
I visited Ze Jun with others after school yesterday. I annoyed my friends throughout the whole car ride there in Mr Tan's car by singing XD When we got to KK, we went into Zejun's room...
To find him looking alright o.o Well, his head was'nt muddled either, he took all my jokes well XD
His story was told to us. He got off the bus and we wanted to jaywalk. He looked left, clear. He looked right, the bus was blocking his view, but it -looked- clear. He crossed, and a TAXI zoomed out from behind the bus. He stopped and turned back, the taxi scrapped his left, and he fell on his right. Injury on both arms. Then I think he bruised his face ._. He was discharged last evening. What's worst, the taxi wasn't even a Mercedes!
Lesson to learn? Don't jaywalk blindly o.o Better still, DON'T jaywalk.
I got my Carpe Diem (School's version of Moral Ed.) paper back this morning. 7/15?! I failed by ONE MARK. That earned me a retest tomorrow morning while those who passed goes for a movie -.- joy. I don't feel too bad, the 3 student leader board heads failed too :D Thanks Johhhnnnn! Kinda stupid to fail...moral ed though =X
As usual, tuesdays are long and torturous. Mrs Long decided to intensify that by making the whole class stay back AFTER 3.15...to do a 2h A-Math paper =X Oh gosh the paaiin. My Caliburn Sword keychain broke off my handphone pouch as well T.T
The paper was tedious ._. and Mrs Long said it was a C5-like paper. So encouraging =X We did and did, until we really got sian diao at the last few questions, and people were handing up already. We drew crosshairs on our papers and aimed to bang our heads on the table on the crosshair XD Then I remember also singing my version of a song LOUDLY...not telling you what it was =X
My right earpiece really busted now. And it's not healing itself. Now my sword keychain as well =( I really need to get replacements for both soon, it just doesn't feel right without them.
Almost here -

As Liyana would say, this is ridiculous.
Ironically, this is from her o.o
Fine. A reverse tag from Liyana, I'm gonna do the same tag AGAIN. Kinda weird.
I'm gonna ignore all the horrid grammar:
1.The person who tag you is?
Liyana Fitzgerald XD
2.Your relationship with him/her is?
National Camp friend, and also a fellow NCC(air) cadet =)
3.Your five impression of him/her.
OHHO.
I) Well, first I thought she was rather innocent. She was avoiding the pervy talk and ghost stories at camp with me
II) Very outgoing and fearless on stage XD She did a few of our group presentations!
III) Highly knowledgeable to the extend that her knowledge is scary =X
IV) A great listener as she's a great speaker
V) Splurges on her expensive hobby - DOLLS!
VI) Twelve-faced dice...oh wait. Only five?
4.The most memorable thing he/she has done for you.
Hmm. She taught me about many fallacies of life =D
5.The most memorable thing he/she said to you.
"*cough*innuendo*cough*" <--- HEY NOW I KNOW WHAT THE WORD MEANS OKAY.
6.If he/she is your lover,you will..
like her, I'd BE HIGHLY AMUSED.
7.If he/she is your lover. The thing he/she has to improve on will be..
If I have to get used to your amazing innuendo-generating abilities, you'd just have to get used to my crazy randomness and endless "ultimate plans" =D
8.If he/she becomes your enemy,you will..
You take my lanyard, I'd take your dolls! Izzy and Cara will be MIINE.
9.If he/she becomes your enemy,The reasons will be..
Hmm. She stole my pencil as well?
10.The most desired thing to do for him/her now is.
Nah I'm not gonna knife her. Maybe if I can get her a doll?
11.Your overall impression of her..
Well, she's a great friend :D Much, much more than what meets the eye. I'd never have known the other sides of the dice within those 4 days at Nat. Camp. Yeps, besides her extensive (scary, and dangerous) knowledge, she's almost very much a decent girl =)
12.How you think people around you -
I'm gonna cut short and jump to the tagging part.
17. Pass this quiz to 10 persons that have a blog. (randomly, no preference)
1. LIYANA (HA. EAT THIS *REVERSE-REVERSE TAG*. the tables have TURNED!)
I'm gonna answer every question as Liyana since she reverse-tagged me o.o
18.Who is no.6[Liyana]having relationship with?
Her doll Izzy. Maybe Cara when she's bored as well.
19. Is no.9 [Liyana] a male or female?
Ho. Female.

Trigonometry, she -loves- it so much XD
23. When was the last time you had a chat with no.3[Liyana]?
Right now on MSN o.o

OH yes. One sister, if I'm not wrong XD

Nope. Her dolls scare me still.
27. How about no.7 [Liyana]?
But she's more attached to her dolls!
28. Is no.4 [Liyana] single?
Uhuh. She has a boyfriend. Wouldn't tell me his name though. Is it Izzy?
29. What is the surname of no.5 [Liyana]?
HEE. Fitzgerald!
30. What 's the hobby of no.10 [Liyana]?
If you still don't know by now, read back. Tsk, poor comprehension skills of yours XD
31.Does no.5 [Liyana] and 9 [Liyana] get along well?
"They" had better. Or she wouldn't even be able to co-operate with herself XD
32. Where is no.2 [Liyana] studying at?
Raffles Girls School
33. Talk something casually about no.1 [Liyana].
SSLLLEEEPPP IIIISSS ESSEEENNNTTIIAAALLL and you know it.

35. Where does no.9 [Liyana] live at?

39. Is no.7 [Liyana] the sexiest person in the world?
What? I really can't answer this as well =X
40. What is no. 10 [Liyana] doing now?
Contemplating about going to sleep.
PHEW. HA. There's your reverse tag!

As heard from Huiyang, and confirmed through RSM's blog:
Part C'08 will have no supernumerary.
This is due to the new implementation that only Part Cs will attend the course, no longer Part Ds. So the next batch to attend is Part C' 09. This results in one year lapse, and skipping our batch D:
It's kinda...saddening to realise that I'd never be like how Senior Desmond and Warren was. I wanted to fight for a chance for Weikit to go with me, looks like now I can't even go =S
No Supernumerary badge on no.4 as well if I become a CLT =X
But in darkness, there's always light =) I feel that my 'light' was the chance to attend National Camp '08. I hope you can see this 'light' as well, Weikit, and cheer up too! We're lucky to have been born on a odd number year to attend the bi-annual camp, which is the gathering of all the uniform group leaders around the island :D
Oh, those who signed up for Sunday morning's CIP, please don't forget: Full No.3 with headdress, fall in at front porch by 0645. I'd be taking attendance.
One random note: a new word has been entered into my dictionary - Mitchellphobia (noun): Intense fear towards excessive philosophical ideas XD Two teachers have already been diagnosed with this phobia XD
Study!

Today..was whacked up.
I know it's gonna be as soon as I woke up. I stubbed my toe on the bed post =X After a blurry breakfast, I picked up my schoolbag and made my way downstairs. After my bro was dropped off at school, my mom was next to be dropped off. She said:
"Ben, don't you have CCA?"
Err. OH GOD WHERE'S MY UNIFORM. We rushed back home and I ran up the stairs to take my uniform for training =X agh muddle-headed me.
I got to school, put my uniform in the store, got into class and slammed my head down at the point which marked 'X'. Then I remembered my promise to Hong You =X I made my way down to the store AGAIN to get him a pair of earplugs, NCC (land) was having their life range today for Marksmanship badge XD Then I had to meet Mr Goh. There goes my morning.
PE later was cool. At least there was more of a challenge and running playing handball. We learned that we can jump and shoot! Later we got really tired and decided to do 'extreme (drama) handball' "XD alot of draggy 'NOOOoooooo" and slow-mo throws and "Spam right analog + Square button to block!" =D
But later during free period, I got a bad stomach ache =X Came back to attack me from time to time throughout the day that I didn't even eat recess =( I felt drained by the time E math test ended.
2.30pm. NCC (air) time. I rushed to the store, thinking I was late, to find one solitary Gabriel inside.
"Omg. Where is the army of NCOs?"
Then it dawned upon me. ENGLISH ORAL. That cut the NCO force by more then half already. Then self studies for a couple. Thats 3/4 gone. Then remedials and "Oh-I-wanna-see-your-class-for-awhile" teachers. Thats like, 4/5 gone. I rushed to eat something and to change. I found Clarence and Gary inside as well.
"O.O How am I to conduct training with...a force of FOUR?"
I felt like I pressed 'New Game' in a RTS (real-time strategy) game. I'm the only senior spec. I have the 'units': Clarence Chia (secretary); Gabriel Lee (Part B Spec); Gary Lai (Supreme Council). And we're gonna take on training for like 40+ o.o Smallest. NCO. Force. Ever. I remember Clarence's 'words of advice':
"Learn to stretch a dollar =D"
Fine. We can do this. I think you guys should have noticed that we were really low on manpower XD I was betting on Yong Hwee coming down to help, since his oral's were over. Nevermind. Attendance was taken, valuables collected. I 'assigned' (I'm still stuck in this "game" o.o) Clarence to take charge of sec 1s, with Gabriel and Gary to take drills and teach a new one.
And I'm gonna solo Sec 2s. XD That's why at the start of training you guys only saw me checking your uniforms. After that 'units' Rong Xuan and Wei Jie joined the 'force', and it made things easier =) Thanks guys.
Draw rifles for the sec 2s. And we went off the revise the advanced arm drills C&C style. Hope you guys remember hor! Don't forget all your drills over these few weeks. And take the chance to practice your 'teaching' skills =) you guys need to do so in Leadership Camp. I called often to check on the sec 1s, its not easy managing two parts with this little people o.o
Then my 'saviour' came =D Yong hwee came to the rescue! He helped me take some of the sec 2s as well, then we taught them the 'U-shape' command. Then Weixuan too! Then I went to the store and Yu Cheng and Jared there too! My 'force' has doubled by 4.15 =D Phew. I saw Matthew Tang slacking about o.o tried to chase Wei Jie back to self study - It's good for you kays!
I changed for PT. So many people were suprised when I did so. I joined the sec 1s for PT, and Joel and I were 'swooping eagles' on our 'rifle preys' XD Sec 2s keep watch of your rifle! Took nothing today. I heard them doing like 100+ push-ups today o.o nutters.
We did circuit for the sec 1s. Was kinda uneventful until Duo Geng's nametag left on the floor fell into the drain! OMG. I went in to fish it out and go wash it. Sorry DG!
Then was Recreational training =D Another rifles game! Sec 1s and 2s this time. Objective? For either one side (sec 1's or 2's) to win as many rifles as possible...by a game of 'scissors-paper-stone' Yucheng's idea =D and I removed the violent 'rifle snatching' part and replaced with a harmless game of 'scissors paper stone'. =)
Rules: Ong guy would run up and tag someone with a rifle. Then they would 'fight it out'. Draw and both walks away. Lose and surrender your rifle/walk away with nothing XD Win and you get a rifle/keep your rifle. You must play if you're tagged! And only Sec 1 VS Sec 2, no internal fights XD
Soo funny =D The sec 2's without rifles formed a wall to block out the sec 1s, but it got broken down ^^ Then alot of random tagging and people fleeing with their rifles from taggers. Then there were ganging-up! *Seven sec 1s surround one sec 2 with a rifle. One guy tags, loses. The next guy tags immediately. The sec 2 loses. Rifle changes hand XD*
NCOs couldn't resist, we played as well XD Wakakaka so fun to take and lose rifles.
Lesson to learn? Don't leave it to LUCK :D
OHHO MY FAVOURITE. THE FORFEIT. The Sec 1s lost 8:13. Forfeit by Bryan Seah?
"Run and hug that floodlight post there. Every Sec 1 HUG it. No more space HUG the person"
OHHOO. It was dang comical XD I can't upload a pic of it. But they all squeezed and everything. And they gave a very soft cheer ._. Sec 2s showed them how it's done =) Then Mrs Chua came o.o Ahaha the sec 1s tried to give a water cheer! NICE TRY. In the end, they did give a good cheer. But can be better!
Nothing much later. Congratulations to all Sec 1's, you've all been promoted to Lance Corporals. Your first step to something bigger =) :D I remember the time when I got my first rank as well XD And to the aeromodelling team: Thank you for all your efforts towards the unit =) You've all done us proud in the competition, and Abraham/Jacob's "full marks" flight as well. Keep it up =)
Congrats to all NCC (land) Part C's who got their Marksmanship badges! =D
For those who signed up: Don't forget CIP on Sunday 0645 at front porch in No.3!
Two random pics:
The Face-off of Pet Rocks
"Go, Almost Flat Rock! Stone him!"
I couldn't resist XD It was so funny forming images in my head about pet Rocks fighting one another =D
I'm not under tremendous stress, Clarence. But thanks for all your great help today with the others =D

Ahh. Slipped away from my reaching fingers =X
I don't know why, but I spend the majority of my free period trying to study for English Oral. And my busted right earpiece HEALS ITSELF. Deny all you like, but my earpiece:
HEALS. ITSELF.
Well, not entirely. It sort of cuts off time to time. But it CAN function! Though it's time to get another set..
I like the quote by Judge Taylor during Lit. lesson, really relevant to everyday lifes now:
"People only see what they want to see, and hear what they want to hear..."
During Chem SPA, i got my fingers yellow o.o and it's still not coming off. My test paper came back...not satisfactory again. Agh. I saw the chinese book Mr Suah asked me to buy recently and I recalled a conversation with Mitchell over it..:
"What is the book for?"
"Erm. Reading."
"Why did Mr Suah ask you to buy it?"
"Because I'm weaker in Chinese."
"So what is it for besides for reading?"
Oh oh, its for comsumption -.-
Kinda senseless conversation. What esle can you do with a book besides read? Burn for warmth? XD
Right after chem someone was calling me. I picked it up and it was the guy whom I planned to meet up tomorrow after training as he was selling me a Saber figurine. He cancelled the sale with me ._. Wth.
Apparently someone private messaged him and reserved to buy as a set, 2 Saber figurines. So "Priority goes to him as he's buying the whole set" ._. Not as if I could say anything to that. Just was'nt meant to be o.o The rain fell and thunder rumbled as I hung up and screamed "WHY. WHY ME."
Looks like I still can't complete the set with these two.
Bad camera o.o Anyway I went for English oral in low spirits =X My teacher was Mr Thomas Mac. I was the only one from my class to be under him, and also the last candidate. He permitted me to keep my handphone with me, and I'd be his timekeeper.
For the next 1h 45min I timed the others to have 10min preparation time. I was unable to do work without a table, so I read my geog text. People tried to bribe me for more time o.o
Finally was my turn. After my preparation I entered the room and we started. Passage was easy, even to the extend that it was fun XD Then when we got to the picture conversation he only asked me one question:
"Do tell what you see in this picture."
Then I rattled XD I remember all the common prompts and answered them before they were asked =D So that was cleared as well ^^ Then the conversation part. The great thing about Mr Mac was that in conversation, it was a REAL conversation. His question was:
"What is your favourite subject in school?"
"Err. Does it have to be a subject I take?"
Mr Mac was like O.O "Oh ok.." wanna guess what I said? ART. Then we talked about Literature being a form of art as well in words; stuffed dead animals selling for millions as 'art'; visual, traditional VS digital arts. I had a great time conversing, his acsent was easy to follow, it reminds me of being back in USA =D Then we talked about the subject I disliked most (MAATTHH) and what would I drop if I had a choice (BBBIOOO). Then we bade each other good day and we packed up and left.
I think that went quite well, might probably be the best test I did in months.
Last training tomorrow till exams have ended, do your best for it everyone.
And I thought of a first name for my pet rock. It is.."Almost Flat". And his last name is "Rock". So his full name shall be "Almost Flat Rock".
I emphasize, Clarence, that I'm not under -tremendous stress-.
And to X, I'm not (that) crazy, yet =D

It suddenly crossed my mind, and before I knew it, I spent 15 minutes pondering over it. I forgot where I heard this from but;
Who would make a more dangerous person? Would it be
(a) One who has nothing to lose
or
(b) One with everything in his life at stake?
Just, wondering.

Everything's giving up on us o.o
The day started sleepily. I got to my table and slammed down my head till Johnervan woke me up. Oh, CMC Photo-taking.
Mrgh. Wore my tie and ran there, turns out I was early o.o Then there was informal attendance taking while others hogged the phototaking area. It was some time till John released us back to lock the classrooms =X chased everyone out, when for morning assembly, and realised I was the only few chairman standing there o.o then we ran back to the phototaking area before the anthem started.
Then I finally woke up o.o After some adjustments here and there (Matthew borrowed my tie pin!) we finally got down to taking the picture. finally. I walked back to class the plopped back on my seat, took one look at the physics paper lying on my table, and left the room. Not very...satisfactory results. agh.
First lesson followed with the Carpe Diem test. I was wondering why did'nt they just called it Moral Ed. The first question was: "Carpe Diem is a phrase in Latin for.."
"HA. SEIZE THE DAY XD"
That was what was going through my head. I practiced self restraint and did'nt shout it out o.o All the questions were like situation based. Seeing that I hardly studied for it, I based it all on my own morals to answer it =X will that be good enough? XD
My physics test results dragged me down for remedial this Sat. During geog, Clarence and Jared were very fascinated by Snaily and the other Snails around me.
No Chia and Jared, I'm not under tremendous stress of any sort o.o Snaily is perfectly innocent. Like the Almost Flat rock. XD
During recess I popped by Irwin's class to visit the hamster =) He's doing ok! I was so relieved. The dwarf hamster looks about 1 year old, he liked being stroked on his back ^^ but when shouting and loud noises were near him his ears would withdraw =X I really hope Irwin's class won't abuse it but take care of it well =) Thanks again soooo much, Irwin!
I wonder what you're going to name him =D
After school, Mr Tan Jit Huih went through metals with Weiyang and I again. Agh, its so close to exams and I was still doing my questions very slowly =X But thanks Mr Tan for helping us today.
We escaped math 'remedial' right after chem, I really couldn't take anymore XD
I was walking out of school when suddenly my handphone dropped to the floor O.O OMG. Luckily my case cushioned it. o.o there's a hole in my pocket. omg. everything these few days since term 4 started has been giving up on us.
First my correction tape busted. That led to Snaily's eyes
Then my pens ran out of ink even if it looks full. Then my pencil lead broke from inside o.o
Then the hole in my pocket (literately). Then the right side of my earpiece busted D: THAT'S THE WORST.
The most classic?
Weiyang demostrated how his pen gave up on him XD The whole thing just fell apart and the cover ROCKETED once clicked! Oh, he lost his spring after the demostration XD Something's wrong with blogger o.o when I upload a video it has this werid, white space with a cross just below it. A link to youtube..?
You may all give up on me, but I'd never give up on myself =)
Before I get back to work, just something to poke fun at:
This is just classic XD I'm a fan of Fate/Stay Night as well, but this is just CLASSIC! =D
Mug mug!

P.S ~ Yes D, my blog is getting as 'wordy' as yours! :D
Can I just be glad that I'm your friend? =)

I was at the edge of my seat like a little kindergarten kid when Mr Lawrence Tan read this story to us in class today as a lesson for narrative writing. Somehow I found it really compelling, and the way Mr Tan read it really brought out the feeling of the short story. If you like, take a read:
Godfather Death.
by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm
A poor man had twelve children and had to work day and night in order just to feed them. Thus when the thirteenth came into the world, not knowing what to do in his need, he ran out into the highway, intending to ask the first person whom he met to be the godfather.
The first person who came his way was our dear God, who already knew what was in his heart, and God said to him, “Poor man, I pity you. I will hold your child at his baptism, and care for him, and make him happy on earth.” The man said, “Who are you?” - “I am God.” - “Then I do not wish to have you for a godfather,” said the man. “You give to the rich, and let the poor starve.” Thus spoke the man, for he did not know how wisely God divides out wealth and poverty. Then he turned away from the Lord, and went on his way.
Then the devil came to him and said, “What are you looking for? If you will take me as your child’s godfather, I will give him an abundance of gold and all the joys of the world as well.” The man asked, “Who are you?” - “I am the devil.” - “Then I do not wish to have you for a godfather,” said the man. "You deceive mankind and lead them astray.”
He went on his way, and then Death, on his withered legs, came walking toward him, and said, “Take me as your child’s godfather.” The man asked, “Who are you?” - “I am Death, who makes everyone equal.” Then the man said, “You are the right one. You take away the rich as well as the poor, without distinction. You shall be my child’s godfather." Death answered, “I will make your child rich and famous, for he who has me for a friend cannot fail.” The man said, “Next Sunday is the baptism. Be there on time.” Death appeared as he had promised, and served as godfather in an orderly manner.
After the boy came of age his godfather appeared to him one day and asked him to go with him. He took him out into the woods and showed him an herb that grew there, saying, “Now you shall receive your godfather’s present. I will turn you into a famous physician. Whenever you are called to a sick person I will appear to you. If I stand at the sick person’s head, you may say with confidence that you can make him well again; then give him some of this herb, and he will recover. But if I stand at the sick person’s feet, he is mine, and you must say that he is beyond help, and that no physician in the world could save him. But beware of using this herb against my will, or something very bad will happen to you.”
It was not long before the young man had become the most famous physician in the whole world. People said of him, “He only needs to look at the sick in order to immediately know their condition, whether they will regain their health, or are doomed to die.” And people came to him from far and wide, taking him to their sick, and giving him so much money that he soon became a wealthy man.
Now it came to pass that the king became ill. The physician was summoned and was told to say if a recovery were possible. However, when he approached the bed, Death was standing at the sick man’s feet, and so no herb on earth would be able to help him. “If I could only deceive death for once,” thought the physician. “He will be angry, of course, but because I am his godson he will shut one eye. I will risk it.” He therefore took hold of the sick man and laid him the other way around, so that Death was now standing at his head. Then he gave the king some of the herb, and he recovered and became healthy again.
However, Death came to the physician, made a dark and angry face, threatened him with his finger, and said, “You have betrayed me. I will overlook it this time because you are my godson, but if you dare to do it again, it will cost you your neck, for I will take you yourself away with me.”
Soon afterward the king’s daughter became seriously ill. She was his only child, and he cried day and night until his eyes were going blind. Then he proclaimed that whosoever rescued her from death should become her husband and inherit the crown. When the physician came to the sick girl’s bed he saw Death at her feet. He should have remembered his godfather’s warning, but he was so infatuated by the princess’s great beauty and the prospect of becoming her husband that he threw all thought to the winds. He did not see that Death was looking at him angrily, lifting his hand into the air, and threatening him with his withered fist. He lifted up the sick girl and placed her head where her feet had been. Then he gave her some of the herb, and her cheeks immediately turned red, and life stirred in her once again.
Death, seeing that he had been cheated out of his property for a second time, approached the physician with long strides and said, “You are finished. Now it is your turn.”
Then Death seized him so firmly with his ice-cold hand that he could not resist, and led him into an underground cavern. There the physician saw how thousands and thousands of candles were burning in endless rows, some large, others medium-sized, others small. Every instant some died out, and others were relit, so that the little flames seemed to be jumping about in constant change.
“See,” said Death, “these are the life-lights of mankind. The large ones belong to children, the medium-sized ones to married people in their best years, and the little ones to old people. However, even children and young people often have only a tiny candle.” - “Show me my life-light,” said the physician, thinking that it still would be very large.
Death pointed to a little stump that was just threatening to go out, and said, “See, there it is.” - “Oh, dear godfather,” said the horrified physician, “light a new one for me. Do it as a favor to me, so that I can enjoy my life, and become king and the husband of the beautiful princess.” - “I cannot,” answered Death. “One must go out before a new one is lighted.” - “Then set the old one onto a new one that will go on burning after the old one is finished,” begged the physician.
Death pretended that he was going to fulfill this wish and took hold of a large new candle, but, desiring revenge, he purposely made a mistake in relighting it, and the little piece fell down and went out. The physician immediately fell to the ground, and he too was now in the hands of Death.
--End--
Sweet. This story had a nice little twist to it. Moral of story?
Don't mess with Death :D
On a more serious note, its more like keeping the promises you make =)
Thanks Irwin for taking care of the hamster :) The eyes do not lie, so I shall pop by and see him tomorrow. I'm glad he has a much better life to lead now ^^

because my brother just passed his chinese test. 40.5/80
"This is the results you get after all this time."
and he's like attending tutions and all. yet he seems so free. he's so dead this holiday =X
and I don't know how to help him.
and the mood is kinda affecting and dragging everyone in like a blackhole. agh. dang shouting.
twitchy feeling is back. I still don't know why it's there. I hope the hamster will be ok. It's a sin to take a life, and even if you did'nt do it, but your actions led to it, you'd have sinned. Please stay safe =(

The most amazing thing happened this morning, Sunday, September the 14th.
I got up in the morning without an alarm clock. Mainly was because my brother was poking/shaking me awake just to spite me that he got the LifeStyle! paper before I did o.o Ragh. After a breakfast of moon cakes (its Mid-Autumn Festival today!) I went to turn on my computer. As I touched my keyboard, something rattled O.O I lifted it up and saw...
OMG. A ALMOST BRAND NEW 2B PENCIL =D
Very unexpected ^^ I always keep my stationary after use, and my current pencil is very short already! Timely rain =)
I shall not elaborate much about last night's events. Running home from tution about 3 blocks away, up to the 2nd floor, change of shirt and shoes, down to the carpark and into my dad's car while listening to Rob Thomas' "Lonely no more". =X I never did so many things in one song before.
Then we had dinner with my grandparents to celebrate my granddad's 75th birthday =) Thankfully, no one called me 'old' or anything related throughout the night. It ended rather early, so we had to while away some time. Since we were at a sports complex my dad and brother went over to the stadium, and we watched 22 men running after a ball and kicking one another =X Super boring match. The only excitement was the injuries o.o
Just one random picture from Joel YOW:
He was playing with my post tag. Kinda cool, double exco post O.O
- EDIT - A quick update on OBS: Currently the people who have signed up are:
Hui Yang, Yu Cheng, Wei Kit, Gary Lai, Bryan Seah, Samuel Lee, Rong Xuan, Yong Liang (unconfirmed) and myself.
Time to start work again =X

It's still there, it won't go. I will never know. ,

Handball yesterday was pure ownage; I swear my team was bullying the other XD
Nothing much eventful today till about 2.30pm, when I was still held up in the mass E-math lecture =X Bryan ran in to get my store key, apparently Mrs Chua have been waiting outside the store for the past 10 mins o.o as soon as Mrs Long let us off I -rushed- to the airstore. For some reason a headache was building, I was'nt thinking straight then. The start of training is always a flurry, a bbbbllluuurrrr o.o NCOs flying left right centre asking every single thing. I hurriedly put on my uniform before Mrs Chua walked in once more =X
The headache was'nt helping =X after all the admin was settled, we moved out and I implemented the new sort of water break: everyone fill up your bottles and have water parade together. I hope next time a sec 2 can lead the water parade for everyone the next time we ask =)
Opening parade was abruptly cancelled. I had to stop after Weikit gave the 'kekenan ruous' because of Sec 2 English oral ongoing ._. After that each part split up individually: Sec 1s to drills, Sec 2s to arm drills.
I joined the Sec 1s soon after I settled the rifles. Drills was as usual, and Hui Yang and I retaught 'homan kehadapan' once more. Remember all the steps we broke down this drill into, and your salutes! I think their drills did improve this week =) keep it up, guys.
Then I went to attach myself to the Sec 2s and revised all my advanced arm drills. Wragh. All our officers had variations in the drills we were taught. We settled upon a standard way and taught. The Sec 2s are quick learners =) We'd revise once more next week before training ends.
Then was PT. I didn't feel up to it, stupid headache was still striking. Weixuan decided to do rifle PT. During the changing of attire I tried to 'take' a few rifles. Good thing they were vigilant. But hoho, not for long ^^
After all the running with a rifle, the Sec 2's stopped at the fitness corner. We hung around looking for nice rifles to keep =D Weixuan got one, and I pointed another out to him, and we got 2! Muahahaha. It was cool seeing how the sec 2s cooperated to keep the remaining rifles ^^
After training we layed the two rifles we 'collected' in front of the sec 2s and proposed that either they did the punishment to win it back, or gamble for it =D Two coins, one by NCOs (my $1 coin!) and one by the Sec 2s (My 50 cent coin!) Guessing which side it would land on, then we flip. If NCOs win and Sec 2 loses, I keep the rifle they betted on, if the Sec 2 won, he takes back two times the number he betted with =)
Let's see anyone try and beat us =D Slowly it began with people betting one by one, and lost o.o Then it became the couples battle. And they lost o.o Then they got desperate, and the whole 2-8 came up and betted with me. And they lost o.o Then Rayner came up, and he won back a couple of rifles =) Then he tried again, and he lost. I swear, I just like the side Heads, and you guys saw clearly I did not cheat =D
Then the one, last fling. All the Sec 2s still holding on to rifles (about half of them) betted them all. I let Gambling "God" Hui Yang take this instead, and the Sec 2s chose their UDI Yong Hwee. And after a few deadlocks, GG Hui Yang won it =D End results: Started with 2 rifles, ended with all. Sweet.
But nah. We did'nt do much punishments, since we were running late. Hope you guys had fun though. Two lessons to learn from this:
1) Gambling, no matter how minor, is BAD. You'd always lose more then you win.
2) You cannot beat us NCOs. Look closer: You guys were already at the losing end at the start, seeing that we would'nt gain or lose anything even if we won or lost =) Risk-taking and gambling are two different things XD
I think point 1 is more important XD But okays, training ended, and I still had the twitchy headache. I had to get out of the store =X Went out to sit in the open where the moon was bright =) That night was really beautiful. Kinda felt better after that.
Balthus
It could'nt be that, could it? I don't want to believe so.Labels: gambling is BAD.

3 days into term 4, and everyone is on full gear already =X
Before anything though, an announcement to NCC (air):
There is CIP coming up on the 21st September 2008. Its the Global Walk for Peace by the World Veterans Federation thought the SAF Veterans' League for the Singapore chapter o.o As part of the NCC New Experience, this event will enhance the national education awareness of the participants. The symbolic walk for peace (approximately 2km) will take place in the vicinity of the Kranji War Memorial.
So basically, its just walking, and you get hours.
Transport will be provided. The CIP should take up your whole Sunday morning. 2km walk for CIP sounds like a deal. This CIP is open to all sec 2's and compulsory for all NYAA Silver Participants. Just telling you guys beforehand, will repeat during training. Please spread amongst yourselves so you can decide if you wish to go.
3rd day of term 4, and there has been already some ups and downs =X Got my EOY HCL paper back on Monday, I did'nt see it during the holiday's script checking as I was at SSC. Flipped to my compo: 28/50. Sweet. Flipped to my letter: 15/20 SWEET. Flipped to my Paper 2: 16/70. O.O I stared at it for awhile. Agh. Kinda...missed the mark..by alot this round. Thanks to that, it dragged my T4 HCL to an overall fail =X sigh.
BUT. Things did, in a way, make up for it. Never did I score 12/15 for a SS SBQ test O.O and it was a full 8 marks for one of the questions! Kinda encouraging =D Cause I'm not gonna give in this term!
Today, I entered the classroom, plopped on my chair, mumbled something to myself, then pulled out my physics WS and started doing o.o Until Yong Kang came in and off my lights. again ._. It feels kinda weird having assembly as the first period of the day, and it was for the Moon cake festival. We saw Sheng Mao playing the "Sha Zi (Dumb One)" OMG. VERY DIFFERENT SIGHT OF HIM. I never knew a CL drama existed in my school o.o and that it's dominated by Chinese scholars =X Very drama filled skit, alot of 'emotions' and crying =D My favourite parts were Haowen being the calefare and running back and forth in jail; and Fu Gui being the kind policeman (omg. in uniform, you could really mistake him for a man XD)
Then when we came back to class, we found Mr Yong at the whiteboard. Apparently he spent 30 mins there waiting for us to come back and writing out his whole T4 Physics Revision Plan neatly in boxes on the whiteboard o.o Kinda freaked by it - failures of revision tests have to do the WHOLE TOPIC in the ten-year-series ><
Geog was uneventful, but A-math was. Mrs Long started on Circular Measure, a topic Weiyang and I could'nt even find in the A-Math textbook. We frantically took notes and tried to understand =X all the arcs and sectors and radients and werid formulas which made no sense T.T I was thinking in my head by then "Mrs Long, can we please have the permission to start screaming now?"
After recess was Bio period. I packed my stuff and retreated to the library to find a couple of sec 2s there staring at me as I entered o.o Then they were mumbling amongst themselves, and one finally asked:
"Err. Were you sent out of class as well?"
._. No, I've a free period. Apparently, they didn't sign their test papers and were sent out, but weren't told when to go back. So they slacked around and suddenly decided to disappear from the library. Just as I started to make my notes did the librarian "kindly asked me to leave so she can lock up for lunch break". Great. Chased out. Then followed the make-up Physics lesson, in which I blurred out and caught myself sleeping o.o And then up to the Humanities room for my Math remedial. At that point of time I was thinking:
"What will it be like if Pythagoras' name was Bob?"
Instead of writng the lenghty "By Pythagoras Theorem, ..." we could actually have written "By Bob Theorem..." Man. So much shorter and time-saver in exams =D Mrs Long's summary on Trigo did help loads ^^
What followed later was even funnier ^^ I busted my correction tape yesterday (again =X) and I decided to keep the little wheels. Then I saw my book-binder. Then I had an -idea- =D orr...as Liyana would be familiar with..an "Ultimate Plan" XD
This was Snaily before.
-Into the operations room-
Then the operation ensued.
20 seconds, and the surgeon(s) were still diligently hard at work.
Then TA-DA. Snaily Upgrade!
Now with eyes to scan the class for evil, math worksheets. And flee from them XD AHHH I <3 my snail =D So happy with the 'operation' ^^
Later, Rong Xuan ordered pizza, we ate, we hid it from Hui Yang, and he was MAAD XD He ended up having one slice in the end. =D Then I did the *SNAP HANDS* drill with Joel YOOOWWW. We'd come up with a command for it soon! =D
-18- more days before our first paper. Everyone stay strong and keep your eyes on your goals! I too have my own I intend to achieve ^^ Good luck all =)
Balthus
It's werid, it's bugging me from the inside, and it won't go away. Why?
